Byesville Rotarians kicked
off their Christmas season with a club Christmas breakfast. Members donated toys
to the Meadowbrook Angel Tree service project. These gifts will be used by Interact
clubs at both Mid East Buffalo Campus and Meadowbrook to ensure all students
with names on the Angel Tree will have gifts for Christmas.
On Saturday,
December 21, the club will host their rescheduled “Christmas with Santa”
pancake breakfast. Santa will be at the breakfast to pose for pictures with the
kids attending. Breakfast cost is $5 and will be served 8:30-11:00am at the
Stop Nine Senior Center in Byesville. Breakfast for children under five is free
with purchase of an adult breakfast. Pictures with Santa are complementary with
purchase of breakfast
.
Also, on
Saturday 21, club members not working at “Breakfast with Santa” will be
distributing Xmas food baskets to families who have preregistered for a basket.
This year the club will be providing almost 200 families with food baskets. The
club finances this project with donations from the community and a grant from
Rotary International.
After these projects are
concluded, club members will take a rest until the new year when they will
begin working on their scholarship service project and planning “Breakfast with
the Easter Bunny.”
Dick Brixner from the Cambridge
Rotary club attended the Byesville Club Christmas breakfast to present Melinda
Yerian with a Paul Harris award. The award was raffled off at the Cambridge 100th
Anniversary celebration. Melinda Yerian, a Byesville Rotary club member, was
the lucky winner
.
The Paul Harris pin
indicates that the person wearing it has donated or had a donation made in his
or her name of $1000 to the Paul Harris Foundation. Money from this foundation
is used to finance service project around the world. These projects range from
Rotary’s international project to eliminate polio to helping local clubs like
Byesville provide food baskets to local families. Congratulations to Melinda.
