Byesville Rotary invites golfers to 33rd Scholarship Golf Scramble

Pictured: Teams enjoying the annual scramble. Held this year at the Cambridge Country Club.

Larry Miller, chair of the Byesville Rotary Scholarship Golf Tournament, announced the 2019 tournament is scheduled for May 5—that is Cinco de Mayo. Miller stated that the 2018 tournament netted $3500 to support scholarships for seniors graduating from Meadowbrook. Participation by players and sponsors was greater in 2018 than in 2017. In 2018, 25 teams participated and 35 local businesses and organizations supported the tournament. He would like to break that record this year.

Miller stated that “During the 32 years the club has been sponsoring the golf scholarship tournament over 80 Meadowbrook graduates have received scholarships from the club.” To date the club’s annual Scholarship Golf tournament has raised over $70,000 for scholarships.

Miller pointed out that community support of the golf tournament is an important part of its success. Each year for 32 years, club members have sponsored a scholarship golf tournament. This event is the club’s only fund raiser for scholarships. All proceeds are directed to the scholarship fund.

The event will be held at the Cambridge Country Club and will start at 2:00pm. Registration is at 1:00 pm. Golfers can support scholarship funding by forming 3 person teams. The fee is $55.00 per player; $165.00 per team. Mulligans are $15.00 per team; skins are $15.00 per team. First place prize is $330.00 and Second Place is $165.00. Hot dogs and bottled water will be available at the turn. A buffet dinner will follow the event.

Larry Miller as well as all of the club’s members are recruiting sponsors and golfers for the 2019 tournament. Contact Miller to register--740-260-2216. Local businesses and organizations who want to help young people achieve their dreams can talk to Larry Miller or any of the club members to become a sponsor. For a $100.00 contribution, a company, organization, or individual can sponsor a hole at the event.
