in club projects, service as club officers and chair persons, or serving on the
board.
Byesville Rotarians inducted new officers for
2018 2019 at their annual Changing of the Guard celebration. During the dinner,
almost every member of this “small but Mighty” club was recognized for service
to club and its 3 major service projects: the annual Christmas Food Basket
program, a health screening in cooperation with Southeastern Med, and a scholarship
awards program which presents at least 4 scholarships to Meadowbrook graduating
seniors.
Dan Navicky, club historian, presented a story
board illustrating all of the club’s projects. He included pictures of the
activities club members were involved in including chicken BBQ’s, pancake
Breakfasts with Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, a Scholarship Golf
Tournament, and “Stuff Santa’s Stocking” in the Byesville intersection.
During the year, the club provided Christmas
food baskets to 200 families and awarded 4 scholarships to graduating
Meadowbrook students, and made donations to local non-profits in support of
their activities.
Rhonda Stemmer, club president, recognized
Becky Bruner as Byesville “Rotarian of the Year.” Bruner was recognized for her
willingness to support club activities with both time and donations. In
addition, she often recruits students from Mid-East Buffalo Campus to
participate in club projects.
Stemmer also presented “Engagement Recognition
Awards” to club members who were recognized for at least 38 hours of engagement/volunteering
for service projects or participation in club activities. Members receiving
recognition for engagement were: Melinda Yerian, Jan Wilson, Don Valentine,
Larry Miller, Shana Fair, Chuck Fair, and Becky Bruner. Stemmer also recognized
club officers and board members for their service.
The 2918019 officers are: President—Rhonda
Stemmer, President Elect, Shana Fair, Treasurer and Grants Chair—Jan Wilson,
Secretary and PR Chair—Shana Fair; Membership Chairs—Phyllis Millhone and
Melinda Yerian, Historian—Dan Navicky. Board of Trustee members are: Debbie
Meade, Larry Miller, and Becky Bruner.
Stemmer stated her goals for the year included
developing a project to support international project involving developmental
disabled students, supporting Rotary’s program to eliminate polio, and holding
a joint project involving at least one service group.
The
dinner was held at the Cambridge Country Club. Club members Nellie Bichard, Jan
Wilson and Tanya Hitchens planned and organized the festivities.

The club meets 7:30 am, Tuesday at the Stop Nine Senior Center at 60313 (GPS
