The monthly business meeting of the Byesville Rotary included an unexpected visit from Jay Jackson, Wal-Mart Assistant Manager. Mr. Jackson presented the club with a donation to support the club’s local service projects.
Club members also voted to send a donation to the Kick Cancer Foundation. This donation will go toward building a Rotary Endowment fund. Interest from the endowment will be given to the James Cancer Center to support research for a cure.
The club president suggested the club participate in Polio Eradication Week which will be February 23-March 2. Member suggestions included providing publicity for the Rotary effort to eliminate polio within the next few years and contributing money to support the effort. A contribution to help pay for the erection of the Byesville Scenic Railway’s Miners Memorial Statue was put on hold until the bronze sculpture is completed. The Golf Outing Committee co-chaired by Chris Morris and Larry Miller will begin planning the Annual Byesville Golf Outing. Proceeds from the outing support the club’s scholarship project.
