Meadowbrook Interact Club inducts new officers and members

The Meadowbrook Interact Club welcomed new members at an induction ceremony at the regular weekly meeting of the Byesville Rotary, which sponsors the high school club. Interact is the Rotary service club for high school students. The Meadowbrook club established a requirement that students interested in joining must participate in at least 2 service projects during the year in order to qualify for induction. Many students participated in more than 2 activities.

Interact service projects for the year included a raising money to support polio eradication, sponsored an Angel Tree drive which provided Christmas gifts for 80 local children, and helped collect canned goods in support of the Byesville Rotary Christmas Food Basket project. Students also helped the Byesville Rotary club cook and sell chickens at the summer chicken BBQ’s.

Sharon Miller, Interact club advisor, presented Interact members with certificates recognizing their participation in the club’s service projects. Seniors receiving the “Above and Beyond” award were—John Barba, Savanah Feldner, Andrea Kackley, Rylie Janczerek, David Jirles, Dylan Woods, Simon Nicols, and Ryan St. Clair. ”Service Above Self” awards were presented to Olivia Anderson, Nick Dunlap, Victoria Dunlap, Claudia Eghard, Cameron Endley, Alyssa Harding, Matt Stemmer, Samantha Roe, and Andrew Walker. Members receiving the “Smile” award were Joe Carpenter, Taylor Dybendal, Annie Ewert, Skyler Goodnite, Marissa Goodright, Martina Goodright, Hannah Humphrey, Paige McKirahan, Peter Novak, Emily Watson, Kaitlyn Roberts, Ashton Simon, Dylan Johnson, and Andrew Walker.

New members Kaitlyn Roberts, Ashton Simon, Dylan Johnson, and Andrew Walker were welcomed to the club and presented with Interact pins. Ms. Miller introduced the 2014-15 officers to the Byesville Rotary. New officers are Victoria Dunlap, President; Dylan Woods, Vice President; Claudia Eghard, Secretary; and Andrew Walker, Treasurer. Directors are Olivia Anderson, Cameron Endley, David Jirles, and Dylan Johnson..

The Rotary club meets 7:30 am every Tuesday at the Stop Nine Senior Center at 60313 (GPS use 60299) Southgate Road, Byesville.
