Scholarship Golf Scramble, and winning team members—Jake Koenig, Mathew Koenig,

The 33rd Byesville Rotary Club Scholarship
Golf Scramble raised a tad less than $3000. This annual activity is the club’s
only fundraiser supporting scholarships for Meadowbrook seniors planning to continue
their education. This year’s effort increases the total amount of money raised
by the club for scholarships to $73,000.
While the wet spring weather and the lush
grass in the rough slowed play for many players, the winning team made it back
to the club house in short order. The members of the winning team were Jake
Koenig, Mathew Koenig, and Adam Sikora. Chuck Fair won the 50/50 drawing.
Two thousand dollars of the money raised will
be awarded to this year to 4 graduating seniors from Meadowbrook Highschool.
The remaining $1000 will be added to the club’s foundation. The Byesville Rotary
Foundation was established to provide continuing support scholarships for
Meadowbrook students. In future, the club hopes to increase the amount of the
scholarships by using income from the foundation.
The club scholarship committee interviewed
applicants for the club’s scholarships. Award winners will be announced at the
Meadowbrook award dinner.
The club is fortunate to be working with the Rolling
Hills Scholarship Fund. This year this organization is matching the award that
Byesville club is presenting. This match will increase the value of the
scholarship toe $1000 for each student receiving the award from Byesville.
